Large Rectangular Box with Willem Blaue’s Americae Nova Tabula 1617 antique map

This large format rectangular box is covered in a splendid antique map by the Dutch mapmaker, Willem J. Blaue, who depicted what was known of the Americas in 1617.

Box Description

It is a classic combination of a beautiful decorative and historical accurate map of its time.  The box features not only the Americas, but also fanciful drawings of native peoples that were an integral part of mapmaking in the 17th century.  The box is finished in brown linen book cloth.  The corners of the top are covered in walnut cave paper.  The box dimensions are approximately 13″ long by 9 3/4″ wide by 3 1/2″ deep.
